The best instrument depends on the route you are currently able to complete. Use this comparison before spending Chimes.

Best for a new player: Wooden Lute

The starter lute is the right choice while learning the three catch stages. Keep your early Chimes for a meaningful upgrade instead of buying a second tool you cannot yet equip.

Best mid-route target: Fenna's Lyre

Fenna's Lyre fits players who have reached the Songkeeper objectives. It is a progression reward, so plan the required collection and offering steps before judging its value.

Best later target: Deepchord

Deepchord is aimed at later Runic progression and Deep Halls routes. It is not an early-game purchase; first complete the quests that unlock access to its catch category.

Rule of thumb: Choose the instrument that unlocks your next route, not the one with the most impressive name.
